Joshua Baller
Joshua (Josh) Baller is the Director of Applications and Services at the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI). In this role he oversees the day-to-day operations of MSI, working to connect Minnesota researchers with the experts, applications and hardware to move their projects forward.
Josh also contributes to the Research Informatics Solutions (RIS) group within MSI. A team of PhD level researchers dedicated to enabling the application of informatics and computational resources to traditionally underserved research domains, particularly Biology. RIS addresses this challenge through multiple avenues: the development of novel analysis techniques and workflows, expert knowledge on the current literature, and outreach and promotion of groundbreaking new technologies.
Josh is formally trained in Mathematics, Computer Science and Biology, with extensive experience analyzing High Throughput sequencing datasets. He particularly focuses on the association of phenotypic measures with underlying sequencing features through the application of Machine Learning and Statistical modeling.
