2025 Spatial Forum and Borchert Lecture

The Spatial Forum is a yearly event highlighting spatial research, teaching, and outreach at the University of Minnesota. This event features lighting talks, exhibitor booths, and the Borchert Lecture.

The 2025 Borchert Lecture will be presented by Janet Franklin, Endowed Campanile Foundation Professor of Geography at the Center for Open Geospatial Sciences, San Diego State University. Franklin’s scholarship seeks to understand the patterns and dynamics of terrestrial plant communities at the landscape scale. The lecture series was established in 2008 to honor the late John R. Borchert, a Regents Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Society and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Science.

The event will be held on Thursday, November 20, in the Research Collaboration Studio at the O. Meredith Wilson Library on the west bank of the Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis. Staff from Research Computing will be available during the Exhibitor session.
