The laboratory of Assistant Professor Christopher Faulk (Animal Science and MSI PI) performs epigenetics research in humans and other organisms. They are beginning to use a new method, nanopore sequencing, for their research. The method is faster than and as accurate as current methods.
UMII’s Updraft Program provided funding for a device that uses this method, called Minion, and an attached computer with powerful CPU and GPU capabilities.
